Free Space
Optics is a proven technology.
A well installed Laser Link will give you years
of trouble free bandwidth as long as service is
regular and the unit is well placed in the first
installation.
Choose Laser Technology
The Benefits:
There are many seasons why customers choose FSO
wireless solutions
Licence-free operation
No need to obtain frequency licences for the operators
of laser based wireless cabling solutions. Connections
can be established as a ONE-TIME investment with
no recurring costs.
Cost-effective:
Reduce your installation and lease line costs.
This is a wireless installation - all lease line
costs are eliminated giving you an incredibly
quick return on your investment. Installation
costs are minimized as there is no need for the
costly installation of cables. Time is saved as
there is no need to seek permissions for digging
roads or obtaining special licenses.
Investment protection:
By using future proof fibre optic interfaces,
the solution protects customer investments. The
modular design of mean that most equipment can
be easily and cost-effectively upgraded for greater
bandwidth or distance.
No interference:
Because they use infrared light for communication,
the performance of Wireless Cabling systems is
not effected by electro-magnetic noises and is
not subject to interference with traditional wireless
devices.
High bandwidth:
Optical free space data transmission gives you
the same bandwidth and speed of fixed optical
fibre.
Secure data transmission:
Free space transmission is one of the safest transmission
methods of its type because:
- Direct interception is virtually impossible
with the concentrated beam and physical placement
of the equipment-well above ground level.
- No instruments such as spectrum analyzers can
detect the communication.
Quick installation:
A Wireless Cabling solution is quick and easy
to deploy. All solutions are plug and play.
Excellent price/performance:
Wireless Cabling systems have outstanding low
cost per bit ratios.
Flexibility:
The Wireless Cabling systems are divided into
distance ranges- customers select the system that
matches their needs. They can be deployed in a
wide variety of network architecture and mesh
systems. They can be installed roof to roof, window
to window, window to roof or wall to wall.
How our Lasers Work:
Laser
- A device that produces coherent light with a
narrow range of wavelengths. Free space optics
operates in the infrared spectral range common
with the fiber optic communications and is based
on semiconductor laser technology due to small
size, power and cost. Most of these lasers are
also common within the fiber optic industry making
availability not a problem. In digital transmission
the transmitter is modulated by the signal that
carries the network traffic similar to fiber-optics,
during this process electrical data is converted
into optical, this conversion keeps the transmission
route independent of the protocol and operates
as a physical layer one link (non-protocol tansparent
link).
The receiver picks up the modulated light and
then converts the optical bit stream back into
an electrical signal making the connection complete.
A digital signal is a series of 0' and 1s, modulation
for FSO is achieved simply by turning the light
source on and off in response to the electrical
signal either by self modulation or use of a shutter.
The torch comparison is a good explanation - you
can communicate with someone far away at night
simply by switching a torch beam on and off in
a predetermined sequence, the Laser is our modern
version of the torch (on and off) working at 300,000km/s
this is optical communications at the speed of
light. FSO systems are simple binary "1"
is light on "0" is light off the receiver
is designed to recognise these two different states
compensating for "background noise"
such as ambient light completing the communication
process.
100Mb/200m
Overview
This
Laser sets a new standard for Free Space Optical
transmission systems. They provide a simple and
easy to install solution that is unique in laser
based networking. This new range of products incorporates
a lightweight, compact mechanical design with
a factory-set optical system, which allows end-users
to benefit from simple and quick installation.
The Laser is more competitively priced than 2.4
GHz radio solutions and the bandwidth provided
is about ten times higher. The Laser range offers
cost effective, reliable and secure laser based
free space optical transmission for local area
networks (LAN) at full duplex Fast Ethernet wire
speed. The transmission carries data using a concentrated
laser beam and a unique modulation technique is
employed to ensure error free data transfer over
distances of up to 150 meter. Transparent and
wire speed data transfer together with virtually
zero latency ensures that the system can be easily
integrated into any environment. The series use
laser light as a transmission medium. As with
all Laser systems this means that frequency licenses
are not required and transmission is not affected
by electro-magnetic interference. The data transmission
via a laser beam is secure as it is extremely
hard to intercept, and cannot be detected by spectrum
analysers. The Laser link is a virtual fibre in
the air.

The 500m series are the second generation of
compact free space laser based systems designed
to deliver an easy-to-use and cost-effective solution
for high speed wireless connections. The applied
technology is based on the highly successful 200m
series featuring an extra lightweight compact
mechanical design with a factory-set optical system
that requires no adjustment or configuration on
site. Additionally, systems cover larger distances
and can be ordered with an IP based management
option. The laser transmission carries the data
using the concentrated laser beam and a unique
modulation technique is employed to ensure error
free data transfer over distances up to 500 meters.
The transparent and wire speed data transfer together
with virtually zero latency assures the easy integration
of the system in all environments. Because they
use infrared light as the transmission medium,
Laser systems do not require frequency licenses
and the transmission is not affected by electro-magnetic
interference. The concentrated laser beam is extremely
hard to tap, even to discover. A Laser link can
is a virtual fiber in the air.
